I'm not aware that these have gained any more traction recently, but Fox ran this as their site headline.

Should be concerning to the left because every instance I've seen cited is one in which red rural areas are running away from deep blue urban centers.

Border jumpers are still going to have to go through the US to get to "California" if they were to pull that off since San Diego wouldn't be included. Either that or go around via Pacific Ocean.

Will make getting 2/3 in the Senate just toughter.

If this happened it would simply create another red state that takes more in funding from the Federal Gov't than they send back in Taxes. The blue part would continue to send more to Washington than they get back.
