INCREASED AWARENESS of Hygiene and the Wiping down of Public Places should be SOP ALL TIME

I was in a restaurant yesterday. I noticed the owner or manger wiping down the tables and the salt and pepper shakers with Clorox wipes.
I will admit that I too have been more conscious in my hand washing and trying not touch my face.
It got me thinking.
Why doesn’t the media and govt would act like this for influenza and other public health risks?
Seems like all of these “new” measures should be going on all of the time.
Maybe if such a push was done throughout the year, we wouldn’t have 18-30k Americans dying from the flu every year.

How does this affect the 5 second rule when you drop something?

Restaurants should this before and after every shift all year long.

Yep. And they don’t.
How many times have you seen restaurant workers wiping tables with dirty looking rags going from table to table under the guise of wiping them down?
Disinfectant wipes should be mandatory to wipe tables and common elements in restaurants.

No. No we shouldnt.
Has everyone forgotten their HG Wells? We have earned the right to live on this planet. Our bodies do better in the long run when exposed to more pathogens (within reason of course. im not going to breath ebola on a 5 year old) in order to build immunity.
Coincidentally, its why kinds under 15 aren't affected by the novel virus. Their bodies are still learning how to deal with pathogens. so it just treats it like any other new bug. which, at that age, they're all new.

They have been too busy investing in defense companies to bother with investing in Chlorox and Lysol.

FYI, Disinfectant wipes don’t really work that well for that purpose. The surface needs to stay wet and air dry for 8-10 minutes to kill flu strains.
It doesn’t sanitize by just wiping, though.
