If Trump doesn't run in 2016, who wins the republican primary?

I'm guessing Cruz or Rubio, they lose all the swing states and pretty much repeat the 2012 map.

Cruz was the only real challenger to Trump and he would've beaten Hillary based on his and external polling. Any time the Republican party runs a real conservative, they win overwhelmingly. Plus Cruz's campaign has mastered technology behind targeting and turning out conservative voters. Cruz had hired Cambridge Analytica to work for his presidential campaign, after his success with them beginning with his Senate run in 2010.

Limp wristed fake conservative candidates lose (McCain) and even Romney would've beaten Obama had he turned out the same number of voters as voted for McCain in 2008.

Most people don't know this because the media would never share this truth, but Obama is the only President to be reelected despite earning both fewer popular and electoral votes than in his first term. He was very vulnerable in 2012 but they nominated a loser who could not turn out the Tea Party base in 2012 that had surged to victory in 2010 congressional elections, led prominently by Ted Cruz, among others.

I think Trump will appoint Cruz to the Supreme Court at some point.

The way they worked together at the convention, with Trump arriving during Cruz's speech where he told his supporters to stay true to the conservative cause, couldn't have been a coincidence. If Cruz endorsed Trump, he'd lose credibility with the base, but his implication to his base was getting behind Trump was the only option.

Cruz is the smartest, meanest dude we've got out there, he's not afraid to fight like the rest of those pussies. I hope he is somewhere important and powerful for a long time or we're going over the cliff that Hillary would've taken us over.

i think Cruz has President in his sights. he was real close in 2016. i don't think Trump will get a chance to appoint him unless someone else besides RBG retires. i'm pretty sure he already said Barrett will be his next pic if given the chance.

I may be missing something, but how did this guy as a two term incumbent Senator from Texas almost lose to a liberal, Democratic empty suit, empty headed jackass if he’s such a great candidate?

Cruz won handily against Beto, 50.9 - 48.3, and his victory was never in doubt, despite what the liberal media told you.

(Also, Cruz was elected first in 2012 and ran for a second term in 2018, so he was not a 2-term Senator as you claim until he defeated Beto.)

Sanders was a willing patsy who never had a chance to win. The DNC acknowledges awarding Hillary the nomination was the genesis for their Superdelegates votes, which outnumbered all available delegates awarding by the states' primaries. Even of Bernie won every state, he still wouldn't have been nominated.

Either Bush or Rubio, and they beat Hillary.

Never forget that ultimately, the real reason Trump won, was the overall complete disdain of Hillary. Trump had his base, as would any of the Republicans. Hillary repulsion among independents is what swung it for Trump.

2020 might be where you see more people actually vote for Trump for what he's accomplished rather than just picking the lesser of 2 evils.

Someone more libertarian hopefully. The Republican Party can win with either a true hardline conservative or a libertarian minded candidate. Neo-Conservatism is dying.
