re: If China were to invade Taiwan, what would it actually look like?

Well, with a REAL American President who is a LEADER, and is competent on National Security, Foreign Policy, and knows strategically the business of Geo-Politics and the United States' rightful place as leader of the free world (Trump), the Chinese would never even sniff Taiwan if they tried. Any invasion force and Naval assets the Chinese attempted to use would be sent to the bottom of the sea with haste, the United States and Taiwan would (with the United States leading the way of course) quickly establish Air Superiority over the airspace of Taiwan and a large buffer zone approaching Taiwan, and China would be humiliated and defeated.
With Biden, whilst the Taiwanese (who have a VERY competent military force, btw) would put up a valiant and heroic fight, the cowardice of inaction by the United States would prevail, and China would eventually overrun Taiwan.
China smells weakness, incompetence and appeasement on the part of the cowardly Biden administration.
It will be sad to see.

If I had to take a guess, they’d first send smart bombs to their airports, destroy their aircraft and as many runways as they possibly could, and hit every communication center/tower to make them blind as possible. Then they’d send ships loaded with troops to Taiwan’s beaches and then make repeat trips. They have so many people to sacrifice they don’t give a frick. It wouldn’t take long.

Taiwan is building a robust home water modern diesel/electric sub fleet, they will sink an assload of Chinese shipping.
And that’s without mentioning any of the Western navies and Japan

It would fall like Kuwait did to Iraq , over night . What it would look like is a military base after that
Ehh, they’d hold out longer than that. They’re fiercely patriotic and anti-communist.

Dude, the Chinese are NOT capable of sniffing Taiwan IF, IF, IF.....the United States chose to defend Taiwan.
With feckless tapioca drooling depends pissing senile frick Biden having his strings pulled by his handlers, we probably won't lift a finger, and then it would become a mathematical equation due to attrition. Taiwan would fall after a valiant fight.

China is not getting an amphibious invasion force large enough to take Taiwan across the strait any time soon. The allied naval and air power would wreck their shite.
Dude, there are 34 million more men than women in China almost all under the age of 40, and Taiwan only has 24 million people total on the Island. Multiply the Red Army by 3 and that’s the bare minimum potential we’re dealing with.

A Chinese invasion equals a high cost to mainland China.
Taiwan can respond with Cruise and ICBM missiles aimed at mainland population centers in China. If Taiwan chooses a fight to the death...China pays a higher price both economically and globally.
Here’s the problem with your reasoning: they can lie to their people and say that China was hit first. They don’t care about this especially since they’ll shoot most of them down.

Yeah but getting them there is issue

They’re not that far. Only 80 miles away. You’ve probably driven 80 miles in under an hour.

Your numbers are accurate, but it is meaningless unless their hordes can get their boots on the island. The United States (if it chose to do so) could easily prevent that. The problem is that with the feckless appeasing incompetent weakness right now in the White House, we wouldn't be willing to do that.

I agree. US could prevent this, but will they?

Ok? None of that has any bearing whatsoever on China’s ability to get an invasion and occupation force across the strait. They could have 8 trillion more men than women and they still wouldn’t get their transports/LSD’s/whatever across the water. The USN and allies submarine fleets and aircraft would massacre them.

Taiwan doesn’t have the means to prevent this. The US does, but not Taiwan.

Will China be driving all their eleventy million men to Taiwan on the interstate in semi trucks? No. They’ll be on massive, slow floating coffins.

The U.S. Navy is vastly superior to anything the Chinese have (as of right now). 80 miles of channel crossing would be suicide for China. Anything they sent would be sunk. The United States would easily establish Air Superiority over the area. But AGAIN, that's only IF the United States is willing to defend Taiwan.

Why is anyone talking about what Taiwan can or would do alone? What a pointless conversation. They won’t be alone.
You also seriously underestimate Taiwan’s missile defense systems. Those big arse target ships carrying thousands of soldiers are sitting ducks for shore based anti ship missiles

Yeah, but they’re going to be taking out as much of their communication lines, aircraft, and runways they can before doing this. Sorry, Xi will use the Zapp Brannigan strategy so long as the US doesn’t get involved:

Why are you so confident this will be the case? I have no doubt the Japanese and South Koreans will do something, but we at this point. If Trump were still President I’d have no doubt, but Biden is weak.

Did you not see my post? I said they’d take those out before doing a land invasion.

Russia will invade Ukraine while China takes Taiwan it's all coordinated and we cannot even dream of interference of any kind

every U.S. President (even Obama) long before it came to where Biden is at---- protected Taiwan.
the Pentagon wasn't fully corrupted...
politically, it is seemingly understood between Biden, Hunter & China.... that Biden will distract while China does whatever the frick they want.
