This is one of the reasons that I dismiss that everyone believes we're too "comfortable" to do anything. That's surely part of the reason, but actually breaking out in a war should be avoided until it's unavoidable. If and when it does happen, it needs to be swift. There will be breakdowns in communication, supply chain, water and power, and it's going to leave a power vacuum that non-americans are going to want to fill. The leftists are going to look to the outside world for help and we need to be able to rebuff that help and send them back to where they came from.
