Bush was a great statesman and a patriot. But let’s not get carried away.

I don’t know about great; maybe a good President.
I was 13 when he lost the 1992 election. I’d like to think that I was perhaps a little more politically astute than my peers at the time. I generally liked Bush because of the Gulf War. Economics wasn’t, and still isn’t, my thing. At the time, I guess as long as the family was doing okay then the country was okay, and we were doing okay.
It takes about 20-25 years to see the long-term impacts of a Presidential administration, and to judge that President accordingly. Now, I think Bush was not a terrible President, but certainly not a great President. Just average. Since I’ve learned new things about GHWB and our government in general that changes things in retrospect about both Bush and other political figures.
