This. But it’s also way more difficult to get into Northern schools.

It’s not necessarily because northern kids are sick of the politics. Yes there is some of that, but most northern schools are receiving record numbers of applications so it makes sense that the northern students start “looking south”.

And for the southern schools it’s big money

They get to charge out of state tuition

Also, a lot of northern schools have been closing due to declining enrollment. (Yes, some southern schools such as Judson and Birmingham-Southern closed too.)
