None of that 195 million has been taxed yet

If $10m grows to $195m without being taxed then the money theoretically can't be spent until the appreciated assets are liquidated at which time a huge tax liability will be due.

I'm relatively moderate and maybe even lean left when it comes to taxation, but ANY inheritance tance is a big no for me. Money should only be taxed once.

Then these are people who don't understand how to be charitable on their own terms

This is known.

quote:

Following scientific data collection and coding procedures, we identify 421 effect sizes from 31 empirical studies. Our meta-analysis results suggest that political conservatives are significantly more charitable than liberals at an overall level, but the relationship between political ideology and charitable giving varies under different scenarios.

My thought on this is that it can be disseminated down to laziness. I don't mean "liberals refuse to work" nor even "liberals refuse to work hard" but that liberals would rather just give their money (via taxation) to some massive body they believe is benevolent (ie: the government), regardless of any evidence to the contrary, and let that body disseminate those dollars into social programs and call that "charity". With that, the difference between how conservatives view government is that conservatives (and libertarians) see government as a necessary evil to be limited and watchdogged while liberals see government as this great tool of benevolence. They would rather use that tool (which takes from everyone) than do the work of finding a worthwhile charity(ies) themselves and donating their money themselves. They don't have to make any decisions, they simply just get taxed and then get to feel good about themselves for their tax money (ostensibly) going to help others.
