How much money is spent on these 'early' elections and mail in ballots?

There is always focus on fiscal spending but they keep spending more and more on shite that was never needed.

Not only that, but why is state machinery deployed in primaries at taxpayer expense?
The parties are capable of choosing their candidates without public money being used.

The early elections are worth it, IMO. But I don't know the actual costs of keeping the polls open for more days, vs. the cost of having more polling locations.
In big cities like mine the lines are just too long for one single day. When we have selected polling centers that we are assigned.
The polls would still be open long after they were supposed to be closed, and counting, if we weren't able to spread the lines of voters out across multiple days.
