If a company adopts any policy which treats the nation of Israel in a negative way I immediately stop buying/using their product.

So there are laws that prevent a private company from refusing to do business with or in Israel? Do these laws exist for other countries?

No, go read into it first... it's being sensationalized

quote:

The measure says that Oklahoma may not enter into contracts with companies that advocate boycotts, divestment or sanctions against Israel, a reference to the BDS movement against Israel.

So is it now ok for a private company to refuse services to lgbtabc’s ? How about refusing to service 7ft tall people or handicapped ? There is a reason that law is in place

This is the proper response. In a free market people should be able to decide whether or not they want to do business with someone else, provided that they are not discriminating against a protected class. (Israel is not a protected class.)

On the other hand, those who are opposed to what B&J are doing should have every right to boycott their products. I am very much opposed to what B&J is doing, though they have a right to engage in activity with which I do not agree. If I don't like what they are doing--which I don't--I have every right to boycott their products.

One of the problems that I am finding is that there is asymmetry in people's willingness to engage of boycott behavior. I have seen data that shows the problem: liberals are considerably more likely to express a willingness to engage in boycotts than are conservatives. What this means is that most large corporations are not trembling in their boots over the prospect that they will be boycotted by conservatives, but they are likely to tremble in their boots over the prospect of being boycotted by liberals. Hence business interests are more likely to be responsive to the demands of liberals compared to the demand of conservatives. We really need to flip that narrative in order to get business interests to listen to our views on these matters.
