We cannot create rain out of thin air, but we can seed clouds that already have moisture to create a minimal amount of rain. It cannot produce a flood. We lack the expertise to do that.

Here is an interview with the Rainmaker founder from Feb of 2024. It will start with him answering the interviewer's question about what technology he is most excited about. His answer: Atmospheric River Generation. He goes on to explain that if you have clouds interspersed with low pressure and you seed those clouds to further increase the delta in pressure....you're talking about building a Nile River in the sky. The interviewer then asks what kind of research is left or is it more of a "let's just try it kind of an issue? Answer: Yeah, like you kind of just go to send it at some point.

What could go wrong?

I have to admit I had absolutely no clue rain seeding was a thing. I thought it was just another MTG nutjob rant. We think we know what we are doing but we are so early in the controlling weather science that it is more dangerous to act than not act. We have absolutely no modeling for how making it rain in one area that in normally dry affects the rest of the countries weather.
