I don't get why the conservatives love this guy. Joe plays extremely fast and loose with the 4th Amendment.

Probably because a large number of "conservatives" don't know anything about the 4th Amendment. They read some rhetoric about him being tough on Muh Illegals and that's all they need to see. Trump repeats it and it's written in Twitter stone.

Sheriff Joe was a tough no nonsense sheriff who treated convicted criminals in a manner that made them think twice before committing another crime in his jurisdiction.

Hooray for President Trump and sheriff Joe!

He willfully and unapologetically defied a federal judge's court order. He doesn't get to choose which court orders he follows. You think Sheriff Joe had any sympathy for the prisoners housed in his tents who were there for contempt of court offenses? Hell no, he bragged about treating his prisoners like dogs.

And yet if they were "thinking twice," their behavior didn't change because recidivism was just as likely as it was with he predecessor.

This is a sticking point for me.

I can almost always tell when you're about to show up and melt all over the thread.

Yes. "They" as in people who read about his history and have a basic Constitution, like judges and Constitutional scholars.

...so you may as well treat them like they're being punished.

Like I said in the other thread, his contempt and immigration enforcement was somehow among the lesser disturbing things in his history.

He's basically exactly the type of government actor that made the Constitution necessary, and he still managed to become the "how to" guide to violating it.

Those probably were the stupid multi-convicted career criminals. I'm sure most of the first time convicted criminals didn't want to go back to sheriff Joe's jail again.

No. His methods were despicable anyways, and obviously if the methods aren't working, then don't use those methods--ESPECIALLY when they're despicable. And not all of those people were convicted anyways.
