My favorite .....NOAA computers crashed and lost more than a years worth of data.
For something so crucial ........why wasn't there any backup?
Then during the shutdown .......I looked into the fact that Africa had zero recording stations and Latin America had huge gaps .......
What a farce .....

Better than that. If you drive behind the stores in a strip mall (where trucks load into their store rooms) you'll see large exhaust units for their central air conditioner. Hundreds of weather stations have been placed near those exhaust stations blowing hot air.

NOAA still records data from these ghost stations by taking the temperature readings from surrounding stations, and recording their average for the ghost station, followed by an “E,” for estimate.
