Help me out with this COVID perplexities

Last year, an older unvaccinated lady in my neighborhood gets a bad case of COVID and gets hospitalized. She made it through but still attends neighborhood gatherings while unmasked.
Just a few months ago, a younger unvaccinated man (40s) who works for the same organization I work for gets COVID and dies, leaving his wife and 2 young kids without a husband and father. Wife goes to funeral unmasked.
An unvaccinated lifelong friend of my mother's (in 70s), has COVID now, and it's a bad case. She seems to be getting over it, but the next step is to be hospitalized and placed on ventilator. This lady's husband is still standing by his right to be unvaccinated when he is very likely the person who she contracted COVID from.
These are all true stories. Help me out with why these people haven't changed the way they do things. In all seriousness, are these real life cases of "give me liberty or give me death"??

Because we'll all die at some point. If you want to take the risk out of living a fulfilling life, stay in a padded room, wear a mask, avoid crowds of people and be more like the crazy cat lady than normal human beings.

Maybe they don’t think masks worked.
Maybe the older gentleman wants to practice his right to make his own healthcare choices.
Maybe the now widow had covid already?

So him being vaccinated would have stopped him from infecting her? Is that what you're suggesting?

That's fair, but I can tell you don't have kids.

Why do you clowns feel the need to always lie?

No, him standing by his right to not be vaccinated at this point is perplexing to me.

So you are asking why people who had COVID aren’t wearing a mask or getting vaccinated?
And you think we are weird?
Man this country is some kind of fricked up right now. I don’t think it will ever be the same.

You don't have to believe me, it's all true.
P.s. find anywhere else on here where I've blatantly lied about something.

Why is it perplexing? It’s no ones business actually.

So are we just supposed to assume he had COVID before? If he gave it to her, why isn't he sick? Did he recover?

Masks don’t work that’s why.
Fauci said it himself. Why don’t you trust science?

Oh right, you still think you can't get COVID more than once. That Trumpism is a lie, bro

If you think those flimsy, cheap masks actually work, you have bigger problems.

All valid reasons but very sad reasons.
