It doesn't exclude this week.

If what Franken did was so egregious to force him to resign then resign already. Holding out even longer to do so is just hypocritical! It sounds like ok I will resign but let me check my schedule.

Dayton has no power to make Franken resign. It is going to go like this.

" After receiving a enormous outpouring of support from the people of MN, I have decided the right thing to do is stay here, and finish what the voters elected me to do." Al Franken.

Who needs actual events when we can just make up what will happen and accept it as reality.

he said he would resign, and a replacement has been formally named. I would think, and this is just a guess, that he is tying up loose ends and then going to make it formal, probably just before or just after the holidays.

Of course not. But he gave himself that cushion to work things out, maybe line up his next gig, make sure his governor’s prepared to name his successor, etc. I have a hard time believing he’s going to renege on a public commitment to step down. Has that ever happened in a case like this?

Franken staying would help the GOP, no?

Plus Capers is a wife beater. Plenty of ammo.

Probably. But I’m open pretty sure they’ve already fingered some woman to replace him.

Who’s Capers?

No, his exact quote was 'In the coming weeks.'

'The coming weeks' would include everything from next week till his death from old age.
