He needs a few more weeks, and then he'll consider resigning in a few weeks again.

I asked this at the time of his announcement, but didn't get a response. Is there even a procedure in place for one to sort of resign from the position of elected US Senator, or just announce he will do so at some unspecified future point in time?

I mean, it seems to me he's either fit or unfit to serve in his position, no?

The "resignation" was just a way to get the heat off for a little bit. He's hanging on for as long as he can in the hopes some new charges are leveled at Trump to justify him staying on. Franken is genuinely to worst...but he's not going anywhere...

As a practical matter how would you tell the difference between the schumer rubber stamp there now vs the one that would replace him?

I hope he welshes on it

He thought about resigning due to the reprehensible things there is actual proof of him doing, and it's the thought that counts. Right Libs?

Yet the black guy had to leave immediately. Why are Democrats so racist?

His replacement has been appointed. She'll be there early January.

why should he resign? I'd feel different if he had been harassing Congressional staff, or had he committed any crimes.

He was just a pig, and I won't be partisan about this, Trump has been a pig to women in his life , he's in the Oval.

Google is pretty easy, brah

From another link
quote:

Smith said she expects to head to the Senate in early January. However, political offices in Washington and in Minnesota are still finalizing the details.

We know who will replace him, but he still hasn't stepped down.

I was using it to search for a good meme for another thread. I'll leave the serious searches for others.

see this is where republicans should turn on the pressure and won't

moore won't be a senator but franken still is...all while dems are claiming the "moral highground"

republicans are weak.

In other words...nothing's been finalized yet and they're leaving themselves lots of wiggle room.

Reading comprehension is pretty easy, brah.

This is where Republicans should stand WITH Franken and say "you know, none of these women were complaining until all the sudden? yeah right, tell you what, let Minnesota decide in the next election"

but instead since he's a D , he's gotta go.

You can't fix partisan stupid.
