Has Deval Patrick, AKA Barack Obama 2.0, Been Team Obama's Plan All Along?

Deval Patrick is the guy that I thought all along was being groomed to pick up the mantle left behind by Barack Hussein Obama and lead the Democrat Party into the 2020 election versus President Donald Trump. But time came and (seemingly) went, and there was no sign of Patrick announcing his candidacy.

But now that we know he's running, was Patrick entering the race at a later date the plan all along? I think it was, and I think many on the Left knew it. Check out this article FROM OVER A YEAR AGO stating that the Obama machine was planning to promote Patrick as the guy.

I recall that Obama told Biden, "Joe, you know you really don't have to do this (run for President). Did Obama wait for Biden's inevitable slide back into the pack of Dem presidential contenders before rolling out Patrick? I don't know, but I've listened to 3 different sources just tonight say that David Axelrod and Obama are gearing up to push Deval Patrick like it's nobody's business.

PS - One potential fly in the ointment? The Democrat Party base has become so radical that Patrick, who will position himself more towards the Center than Warren or Harris, may not be acceptable to them. Obama just made a speech where he said that Americans want "improvement" more than revolution, and he is being savaged by the Left over this.

Here's that article from 13 months ago:

Buzzfeed

quote:

David Axelrod, architect of Patrick’s 2006 governor’s race and Obama’s 2008 campaign, is intrigued by a potential Patrick 2020 campaign, said two former Obama administration sources. So is David Simas, CEO of the Obama Foundation and former aide to both Obama and Patrick, one source added. Valerie Jarrett, the close Obama ally, is barely containing her own excitement about Patrick’s possible candidacy at small events with friends. Eric Holder, the former attorney general and close Obama friend, told reporters on a recent visit to New Hampshire that Patrick fits the kind of profile and leadership style he’s looking for in a candidate, if he doesn’t run himself.

Obama literally stole significant portions of Patrick’s speeches during his 2008 campaign. There’s no question he’s the preferred Obama candidate.

If Axelrod wrote them is it stealing?

He and his ilk created this shitshow. Let them wallow in it until dead.

I think they never planned for it to go this far. It's like they created SKYNET and the machines are fighting back.

I agree. You could be right about the monster they created getting out of control. But imo, It isn't so much that Obama isn't down with a Revolution. I think it's more of a case that he knows a candidate that is too radical just can't win.

Deval will position himself more towards the middle. This would help him in the General election, but can he win the nomination? The Democrat diehards want a "red meat" candidate.

We’ve heard that Deval is the 2nd coming for a few years. I was surprised he didn’t jump in to the early group but makes sense now. Also makes sense why BFF Obama never endorsed or commented on Biden running.
