By law, companies also interview candidates for jobs that they have zero intention of opening up to outside prospects before promoting internally.
And acting like "prevailing wage" is some fair representation of what a real competitive domestic labor market would command is absurd. The end result is more monopoly, more poverty and an expanding indentured servant class who couldn't give a frick less about this country past the paycheck they're sending overseas.
It takes a lot of money and strings to conduct a successful election campaign, especially at the national level. Trump is clearly getting those strings yanked.
