Weed doesn't fricking benefit you or society in any way

Lol. Legal weed does. It saves money on enforcement, raises tax revenue to municipal projects and schools, it's one of the safest substances known to man, can help relieve symptoms of numerous diseases, and plenty of other things.

I'm work hard, and pay my taxes. After work, I don't like to drink, because I hate hangovers. I'd rather smoke weed. If I were to drink regularly instead, I'd be a less effective employee for my company.

So your employer is keeping you from smoking weed, not the government.

The federal drug free workplace act requires any business that works on federal contacts, or receives any federal money, even if indirectly, to test for drugs. Almost nobody in the construction industry would pay for testing if they didn't have to.

I'm sure they do it to lower workers comp insurance payments, and because everyone else seems to be doing it.

It's an easy out for them too. If anyone is injured on the job first thing they do is immediately take them in for a drug test. Any spec of weed shows up, which could be a month with a piss test, they aren't liable for any workers comp period.

A lot of companies are switching to hair tests now which go back three months. Even the cocaine and opiate users are worried because they used to be able to get a bump on a Friday and be fine on Monday.

For what it's worth the only part about legalization that scares me is the inability to test how impaired someone is on weed. Last thing I need is a heavy crane operator lifting 110 tons over our head while being stoned. That said I used to smoke and would again if it were legal. I also think it should be legal.
