Blaming Shumer, but the troops are somewhat upset.

Spin, spin, spin it all away.

Odd, with multiple local bases, the jacksonville news specifically said troops stationed overseas would see it despite the military channel being out of service.

How is this even a thing with modern technology? Internet, cell phones, etc.?

Mostly affect ships out sea. Possibly* people in certain countries that won’t be showing it, though WiFi is likely available in most
AFN from a satellite is all you get at sea

The technology didn't disappear overnight, the government is saying we don't have money, therefore all discretionary spending is cut.
The military is a war fighting machine, everything else is in addition, so these types of things are turned off, while the government tells us we don't have money.

It is, but viewing sites, such as ESPN, block access if you're connecting from a foreign IP or a known VPN.
Edit: Finally cracked the code in Korea.
I have to use SoftEther to connect to a VPN, then further encapsulate it using a browser proxy in order to mask my location.
Not that it's going to make much of a difference tomorrow as the games come on at 0500 and 0840 respectively here in the morning and I'll be at work.

per Mike Pence: the Pentagon found the money. The troops will see the NFL games today.
No word yet on the Super Bowl in 2 weeks.

Who is going to pay for the monthly bill?
That was the sole issue, and Pence made sure they checked the couches for loose change.
