From a budgetary standpoint Pennys have been such a stupid concept for many years…..

Glad they are finally getting rid of them.
Honestly most coins are not obsolete at this point.
Dollars are also moving in that direction besides people trying to avoid taxes.

I agree that most coins are not obsolete and that dollars are moving in the direction of not being obsolete.
I am interested in learning more about using dollars to avoid taxes though.

Sorry never done the practice myself. Only heard stories online.
I’m a tax paying citizen who loves my money going to cooking classes for trans prostitutes in Uganda

You could say the same about the department store.

I agree. But woman like to still go to stores as an outing and browse and try on clothes.

Same for men with hobbies and outdoor stores

All change should be eliminated and we are close to eliminating the $1 bill. All of it is worthless at this point. It’s like having a peso.

So until places implement tax into the price on the sticker, how do we solve the issue of paying out $7.94 when I pay with a $20 bill. How do you cover the increments of $0.01? Now if they would factor tax into the sticker price, they would just round up the price by $0.01 and i would be owed $7.95. With our current system, eliminating the penny is disastrous and is the stepping stones to a cashless society. You have to fundamentally change our currency system to a base 5 system instead of a base 1. If $0.05 is our smallest unit now, they have to recreate the structure of our currency to be base 5.

You people advocating for less physical currency are the same people that are going to freak out and throw tantrums and do nothing when CBDCs arrive in about 7-8 yrs.
It's moronic to get rid of pennies. It's just yet another method for corporations to frick over customers now. They're salivating over rounding up 2-4 cents on cash transactions.
Trump fricked this up, just like he did with H1Bs. This is not good.

But eventually we will run out of pennies.

While we are at it, maybe it is time to reintroduce the 500, 1,000, and 5,000 dollar bills.
I watched a slot video where they won over 400,000 in cash. Definitely was a bag full of hundreds.

You do realize they're still in circulation, right?
They didn't get rid of them, they just stop making them... There's a difference..
