I'm sure the French just chose the players because they are black. Probably so many better white players. National teams are always doing that.

Upper class French white dudes don't play soccer. They play rugby.
Soccer in France is played by players from French overseas possessions like Guadalupe and Martinique, sons of immigrants (Robert Pires, Michel Platini, Luis Fernandez were all famous players before the North Africans began dominating), or immigrants themselves.
The French system is so good that they've basically trained many of the best players in North African and West African teams, as the players who aren't good enough to play for France are still eligible to play for their parents or grandparents' country. The French system is the best in the world in terms of output, and it is a real national system of training players, which is different from the club system employed by every other major European country.
I don't know why your panties are in a wad though. I would have thought a "British" dude would know all this.
Even the best white French player right now is of Portuguese descent on his mother's side, and Alsatian on his father's.

That's not necessarily true in soccer's case.
The best teams are almost always South American or Western European. Asian, North American, and African teams are far behind in player development and the tactical game.
There are some great African players, but the big move in the game has been to move without the ball, and Europe is ahead of everyone in terms of those tactics. Other regions of the world still value running with the ball more.

Of course you probably wonder how they can have pride in Zidane as well and he was the best player of his generation.

There's no doubt great white soccer players. It was invented in England and was a European game and expanded from there. The Germanys and Englands have always been good. The African nations are way behind in development, but definitely not in athleticism. The South Americans aren't white.
But if you look at the makeup of these national teams nowadays, the European countries are becoming more and more of melting pots. And the club teams even more.
