He is threatening the West with nuclear war retaliation. If we attempt to intervene in his aggression against Ukraine.
He is not threatening Ukraine.
Which is why the West should stand up against his threat and call his bluff on this. We have lived under this threat for 70 years.
If we directly attacked Russia and was in fear of losing a conventional war. Maybe a nuclear weapon is plausible. In this case, he is the aggressor in a third party country and there is no direct military threat to Russia.
Surely he is not dumb enough to use a nuclear weapon under these facts. The result would be total destruction of the very thing he claims to be trying to protect and save.

To answer your actual question, just my opinion but there's nothing on paper. Still if that happened (which Im pretty sure it wouldn't) NATO might put one near the south to cut off any supply lines in a permanent fashion. Or might not. Nuclear warfare isn't always a tit for tat answer or MAD.
If Putin did this, it would mean he lost and knows it. He won't last long in Russia after something like this.

What unit from which Brigade in Fort Campbell? Also what was your RIP or RASP class before going to Battalion?
