And the officer should have known the difference between a gun and a taser. Especially considering she had over 25 years experience on the force. This "Oops, my bad!" BS shouldn't fly in a court of law.

There is stupid all around here.
First off, kid doesn’t run due to outstanding warrants and there is no incident.
Second, even if hit with a taser there was no guarantee he goes down.
Third, given she made the mistake and thought she had the taser instead of the gun, this sounds like a Fruitvale Station type of incident where having a pistol grip taser and having it be in an unusual spot made the officer mistake one for the other when dealing with an unruly suspect.
IIRC, it came out that the PD in question foe the BART was having people share tasers rather than issuing them to all officers and the way they were wearing them caused confusion as to where it was on their body.
IMHO, the fact that it is a veteran and the police union head lends itself more to a bad situation due to a variety of factors than to being a shitty cop like the one who shot the Australian woman who had called the car and was reporting an incident when dumbass shot her from across the car.

WTF?? = That is obscenely not true. What the hell do you base that ridiculous lie on??
Cops are yelling and rushing the individual. To disorient and confuse. It amps the situation. You can see it in the video. They're trained to do that.

Never heard of Bandit, AR. Sounds like a sketchy neighborhood.
After reading what happened to you. Town's name checks out.

This is a such a low IQ take. Police aren’t punishing someone for fleeing, they are defending themselves.
Their job is not to defend themselves. Their job is to enforce the law. It's a hard job no doubt. They should get paid more and the truth is that women shouldn't be front line officers. But, they don't get to shoot people bc they are scared of what might happen. This was a bad shoot. Period. And the officer saying she thought she pulled her taser is either lying or a complete fricking idiot.

Fruitvale Station BART cop who shot someone did the exact thing and you could tell from the video just by looking at his own reaction to what happened.
More reason why tasers don’t need pistol grips. Not to be less scary but so you can tell the damn things apart from a pistol by touch.

He isn't wrong, but that certainly is not a unique or original take.
I want a job where I can state the obvious and people pay me to come on their shows to share it. I saw this same observation made when it was first reported to happen in a thread on this board.

OK, now that is just darkly hilarious.
I can imagine her saying “Ok, now that was an example of what NOT to do” to them.

"What stood out to me ... this was a senior police officer," Williams said. "This wasn’t a rookie. This is someone who had training. You expect someone with training, even in the cause of a situation like this, to take the appropriate action. She pulled out her Taser, she thought. What she actually pulled out was her gun."
SO THE LESSON FOR ALL PEOPLE
DON'T TRUST POLICE TRAINING IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT- JUST COMPLY
the officer will be fired...she will go through hell
I bet she feels terrible...a horrible situation
for the rest of us, we have to talk about Daunte's path in life...
that's the real issue at hand.
DOES ANYONE HAVE THE BALLS TO BRING IT OUT IN THE OPEN?

all cops are just revenue collectors for the city or state. they just get to wear a gun.

You're being too harsh. She made a mistake and I'm sure she feels awful.
Not to mention she's probably going to be unemployed soon.

She made a mistake. Let it go.

She made a mistake and should pay the penalty of that mistake. I don't think it should be assumed a cop who killed someone did wrong, but if they did wrong, there needs to be culpability.

I’m sorry, but a suspect attempting to flee shouldn’t automatically give the police license to execute them. This isn’t Judge Dredd.
Execute them? Execute them?
Are you kidding me? This was NO execution. She thought she was going to subdue him with a taser, but it was her gun. That’s far from an execution. It’s a sad turn of events but that’s the risk one takes when you are dealing face to face with law enforcement. It’s best to comply because deadly things can happen.
The “execution “ comment is just disgusting.

It's part of the issue. The other part is - how exactly will defunding the police and reducing their training lead to fewer shitty results like this?
I have talked with LEOs enough to know that their training is far less extensive than people might assume.
