I’m as small government/conservative as they come but anybody who doesn’t at the very least admit that the education system from high school to college regarding loans is predatory and an absolute racket can’t be taken seriously.
So the government steps in and makes sure that everyone can get a loan for an education to “even the playing field” and as soon as people can’t pay off these loans the banks are blamed for predatory lending. When does a fair and equal opportunity become predatory? When the plan doesn’t work out? This all sounds very familiar.

May not be predatory, but the rise in school tuition is directly linked to the rise in federally backed student loans. It’s a situation that the government created

It’s racist if you don’t give the loans. It’s predatory if you do. This is the vicious cycle that the left has us living in.

Ive been warning every other student loan thread out here the Trump can lose on this issue.

Theres a bunch of young people that dont vote for shite but you tell them they will be unshackled and Donnie 9 inches lead dwindles faster than you can say "What Happened."

I'd like to know how much of the student loans actually went to tuition. I know a guy who bought an ounce of weed every semester when he got his loans, now I have to have my taxes pay that guy back for weed he bought 15 years ago?

No shite. Recently I was passively listening to some show about a young couple moving in together. He was frugal. She was not. He had no idea of her 6 figure debt, which was mostly student loans. Yet, she had many luxury items. This did not compute and I started listening actively. Moral of story is she was buying all sorts of stuff with her loans, not just paying for tuition.

I have some questions about student loans. Do they cover the cost differential for out of state tuition and/or the cost differential of private vs public universities?

Depending on the degree of choice it makes absolutely no sense for the borrower to get a loan to cover additional out-of-state tuition cost to obtain a General Business or another non-technical degree just so they can attend their favorite school.

The earning power of the business degree is going to be the same regardless if it's in state or out of state but the borrower has twice the debt if he/she goes out-of-state to get the degree.

I have absolutely no idea how the student loan system works, so if I'm wrong about student loans covering OOS tuition I apologize.
