This comes back to a “how many cops do we have” issue. Every traffic cop writes tickets to stack up their appearances on single days. Dozens of tickets on a single court date. And you know what that date will be weeks in advance. Appearing for that shouldn’t be overtime; that should be a normal workday. Either hire another cop to cover the beat or, just maybe, don’t have a cop out writing traffic tickets that day? Why do we need to pay OT rates for basic, every day work?
