Number one, the destruction of their Air Force. Number two, the destruction of their Navy.
Done weeks ago.
quote:
Number three, the severe diminishing of their missile launching capability.
Apparently this isn’t done at all or we wouldn’t be paying a ransom to send ships through.
Of course it wasn’t an issue at all until we started a war with them.
quote:
And number four, the destruction of their factory so they can't make more missiles and more drones to threaten us in the future.
I hope your optimism is proven correct.
But unless the public terms are very different from what’s been agreed to in private it doesn’t matter at all what we did or didn’t blow up because China is going to trade them all the missiles, drones and planes they want in return for oil.

If these things are true, how is a country with no navy and no air force and limited missile capability shutting down the strait and causing a global energy crisis? Help me with that.

GD you clowns really did eat up that Iranian propaganda huh? Hmm let’s see because all it takes to scare the ships off is a couple clowns to lay mines or shoulder launch a projectile.

You’ve now gone from arguing we didn’t meet our objectives to, once you were proven wrong, arguing about something that may or may not happen in the future.
We had objectives. We met them. You may not like them. You may not like the Orange Man who approved them. You may think you’re smarter about seeing the future than him. But he chose to act now with far more information than you will ever have.
We dont control what China is going to do. Or when. Or how fast
Right now Iran can not do what Rubio said we didn’t want them to do. Hide behind their armaments and obtain a nuclear weapon.

Guess what these two weeks will prove
1) there are no mines laid and never were
2) the boats they could threaten to lay mines with after the 2 weeks are up are all at the bottom of the ocean
3) they are full of shite they need things moving thru that straight in order to survive more than anyone
Ooooops………..

I’ve mocked and will continue to mock the idea that those even were our goals or that in accomplishing some of them we’ve done anything of note approaching the $80B we spent or the risks we’ve taken along the way.
We wanted regime change, which to be fair would’ve changed the entire Middle East and didn’t get it. Trump himself said it, then had Rubio walk it back when it became obvious we wouldn’t get it.
No Iranian ship or plane has any ability to threaten another gulf state because they were hopelessly obsolete and outclassed. Blowing up their inoperable F14s does nothing.
Their navy could not interdict sea traffic or project power. We could’ve and did take them out on basically day one anytime we needed to so pretending it’s elimination was an accomplishment that counter balances our spend is preposterous.
Their missiles are obviously not eliminated and never could be without a ground invasion or regime change because they can be hidden and replaced via China anytime they want. All we did by escalating without being ready for a full ground invasion (which would’ve been an even worse idea) was guarantee they would be used against shipping and soft targets.
If Trump can negotiate some sort of actual value out of this engagement I’ll be the first one to give him credit. There’s no evidence based on current reporting that we’ve done anything that meets that threshold.
Right now we’ve pushed Iran into Chinas arms and all reporting indicates their willingness to sit at the table was predicated on things that would be a net negative relative to where we were before the war.
So you taking a victory lap and mocking the people who warned that this was the likely outcome from the jump without any evidence of strategic benefits whatsoever is completely ridiculous even to people like me who would like to see the president succeed with his campaign platform.

The mere possibility of Iran sinking a cargo ship loaded with oil is enough to shut down the Strait. They only need limited missle capabilities. Or slip a small boat to drop a few mines..
