It has seemed strange, with the way this place usually is,

the lack of discussion about it

the lack of response from the local gov't

a FB post at 7:30 is not how to save lives who are droning at 4:30

texas response was activated the day before, they knew.

and we let everyone just "chill"

this thing, from a pre-response situation stinks to high heaven,

then the fact texas allocated money for an early warning system, too

links are out there, plenty of them

so sad, lives lost, and I suspect, not evacuating camps somehow was tied to money

who owned the camps?

1k posts of useless arguments over rs/uk

nothing about who is responsible,
and of course old Chip makes an appearance.

this thing stinks to high heaven, incompetence at the least, corruption? who knows?

no way this is all it appears to be
and what happened to y'all?

rant off/

this is the poli board,

did gov't respond correctly, or were lives lost because people were not evacuated?

if so, why?

I saw a video of the first rise of water coming down a stream. Not sure it was the main river. There should be a sensor to pick up that first rise and then blast a warning over a system of sirens just like the coastline of Japan (for tsunamis). Everybody at the camps or along river front real estate should be briefed on what a siren means and where to go. And the place to go is to move in an uphill direction. This is a once in a half century event. And it happened in the summer when schools were out. Not much could have been done considering the circumstances. We don't live in a perfect world.

Maybe, maybe not. I’m not sure what more they’re supposed to be doing.

I think there has been good coverage of this awful disaster....and it is on-going.

It’s discussed in those other threads on here. More on the OT.

texas allocated $$$ to do just that

it's not that hard, I watched the water coming up from 5AM on Nat Weather

a 30 ft wall of water is not hard to spot

even at 15 min refresh' where were the officials?

Considering how few people died, it looks like whatever system was in place worked pretty well
