Why the screams? This is what they want. More government control over multi billion dollar corporations. They literally advocate and even run for office on it. What’s the problem?

Because this about much than that.

Protecting the bastion of pedophilia is paramount to all other policies.

If the people start going after the pedophiles... well that is them.

Disney has been subsidized but that is not an inherent right in perpetuity. Disney has tried to bully the state of Florida and is now finding out that in Florida the people are sovereign.

So back in the 1960’s Disney created a city/county government where it owns all the property in said district or city. From once source that I read, there are only under 50 official residents that reside in the district or city if you can call it that. They are all employees of the Disney corporation. The town is run by a board of supervisors elected by lawn owners in the district who are Disney employees. Which to me should be a public body and follow all public meeting requirements, but I don’t think they do.

Within the district, there are fire department companies, maintenance crews that work under the district instead of directly through Disney, security forces employees by the district, and they even have their own utility system where they buy power at wholesale rates. So Disney created a town, where it owns and manages everything. Obviously, Disney must have to pay some sort of taxes or use fees to its created city government to stay in operation. So wouldn’t these taxes that Disney would be paying into this special district transfer to the respective county district if this area gets unincorporated.

The other kicker is that because district is government entity, get can get tax free municipal bonds from the state of Florida to finance some government works project but some legislators objected and snuffed out the deal years ago.

I think the one thing they leave up to the county to do is elevator inspections, even fire inspections are handled by Reedy Creek. They also leave law enforcement (arresting or ticketing powers) to the local sheriff’s office or Florida Highway Patrol, but they do maintain security forces through Disney Park Security or Reedy Creek.

So about as bad as Louisiana politics can get, I don’t think any our legislators would have given the mouse that much latitude in creating a government town unless they got a huge cut somewhere in the line.

I noticed another thread regarding a vote on redrawing a district in Florida that was loaded with a certain demographic.

These people were skyscreaming about that vote.

Here is the other thread:

DeSantis learned the key to defeating leftists. Stay on the offensive all the time and never give them a moment to regroup and counterattack.

Desantis has everyone working with him and for his agenda, Trump never had that. Imagine if he did the things we could have done even more then what he was able to do.

No doubt about the screams. Watching the lefties melt down over it on the Movie/TV board of all places has been absolutely entertaining. They are in such a snit which suggests what Florida is doing must be right on
