"First-hand Knowledge" vs "Public Transcript of Call": what's the difference?

Would someone please explain this to me? Don't we all now have first-hand knowledge of the call via the transcript?? T.I.A.

I sit and listen to a deposition and tell you what happened may not be 100% in line with the transcript.

Plus, my perspective (bias) is going to influence what I think was significant.

In other words, my first hand knowledge will not prevail in court versus the transcript.

Transcripts don't have magical mind reading powers. They just have words and facts.

The transcript itself is hearsay.

But it probably meets one of more exceptions to the rule.
