Guy spent 40 years protecting his country and fighting their stupid wars and when he decides, at 62, that he wants to retire the only thing people say is "He's weak," or "Interesting."

Marines have literally no one quitting. We love the changes; if you listened closely many of the directives are in line with our culture of ruthless adherence to standards, discipline, and very high physical standards. Make the joint force great again!

And these same people now think a 62 year old General need to be in just as good shape as a 26 year old combat solder, while their fat asses couldn't qualify for the salvation army.

Actually this has been in the works for a few weeks and has nothing to do with Hegseth's speech. Gen Bussiere was passed over as the next Chief of Staff for the Air Force and elected to retire instead of taking a lesser position.
