Federal judge sets February 2027 trial date for DC pipe bomb "suspect"

A federal judge on Wednesday scheduled a trial date of February 2027 for Brian J. Cole Jr., who has been charged with planting pipe bombs near the national headquarters of the Democratic and Republican parties on the eve of the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
U.S. District Judge Amir Ali said the trial will take place Feb. 16 and last about two weeks, according to the Associated Press, and Cole's defense attorney said they have not discussed the possibility of a plea deal with prosecutors to resolve the case.
