It's this logic that led America's schools to go to s***.

Oh shite you are serious? Have you read the Bible?
I’ll help you out because I am kind and want to help.
Deuteronomy 10:17
quote:
For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe.
Let’s insert some Hebrew names (bold) into the text and fix one sentence (underlined)
quote:
For Yahweh your Elohim is Eloah ha Elohim and Adonae ha Adonim, the El, the great, the mighty, who is not partial and takes no bribe.
Let’s insert me ‘splain this to ya.
-Yahweh is the divine name, the Tetragrammaton. Yod-hey-vav-hey
-Elohim is the plural word for generic “god” or more accurately a thing that lives in the spirit realm in heaven.
-Eloah is the singular form of Elohim.
-ha is a definite article “the”
-Adonae is a generic singular word for a lord or master and is often used interchangeably with “Ba’al”
-Adonim is the plural version of Adonae
-El in this case is very similar to Eloah but El is also sometimes a proper name of a very specific Eloah depending on the context.
It’s also worth mentioned if you ever heard the word Adonai, it is singled possessive “My Lord”. It comes from the word used for the god of the monotheism Pharoah Ahkenaten (King Tut’s daddy) tried to set up in Egypt when they ruled over Canaan. Aten was their single god which they worshipped to the exclusion of others and even denied the existence of the other gods. Translated to Hebrew Aten becomes Adon. When Ahkenaten (born Amenhotep IV… another theophoric name) died, they tried to erase him from history and King Tut the boy ruler restored the old gods and temples.
Have you checked out Deuteronomy 32:8-9?
quote:
8When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. 9But the LORD’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage.
Let me fix that for you by filing in the names with the transliterated Hebrew. By the way Elyon means the most high god. Kind of hard to have a most high god if there isn’t a hierarchy of gods beneath him…
quote:
8When Elyon gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of El. 9But Yahweh’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage.
Some more favorites.
quote:
For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the LORD.
Who the hell is Yahweh talking about executing judgment on? Imaginary false gods? That’s an insult to Yahweh to say Yahweh will punish gods that don’t really exist. Yahweh is no fool.
Read the first commandment from Exodus 20:
quote:
You shall have no other gods before me. 4“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
Yahweh isn’t telling you not to worship false gods that don’t really exist. He’s telling you not to worship those gods that are his peers, gods that he is jealous of. He tells you outright he is jealous of them. He tells you not to serve those other gods. You can’t serve a god that doesn’t really exist. For him to say not to serve them implies they are real.
Psalm 82 is a great one that builds on Deuteronomy 32:8-9 mythology.
quote:
1God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: 2“How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah 3Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. 4Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” 5They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. 6I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; 7nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.” 8Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!
Psalm 89 excerpt:
quote:
5Let the heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones! 6For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD, 7a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him?
It’s all over the New Testament as well for example Ephesians 6:12. “Paul” is using Greek words that sometimes the translators like to use different words.
quote:
12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
“Paul” is absolutely talking about the same gods mentioned in the verses I just shared with him. Rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers are all just words used for gods that aren’t “the God” that they worship. Notice they live in the heavens, not on earth.
So I expect you to read this and do your own research and come back to this thread and tell me I was right, and that you were wrong, and thank me for setting you straight.
If you’d like to discuss verses such as “hear o Israel the LORD is one” and “I am the LORD, beside me there is no other” I’ll be happy to discuss.

I could go round up all the instances where the Bible states there is only one god too.

Pick one and let’s discuss it while you ignore all the verses I quoted which explicitly state there are many gods.
