Neither is the United States. The U.S. is too mercurial in it’s foreign policy objectives.

Venezuela may renationalize when it faces another regime change. Yet in the United States, the two wings of the UniParty® argue each other on cable TV while the Deep State consolidates it’s power.

I remember Karl Rove going on Fox News after Bush’s 2004 win, triumphantly wielding his infamous whiteboard to “prove” a permanent Republican majority had arrived. Many of Trump’s base are displaying the same hubris.

At least Venezuela is upfront about its instability; the U.S. pretends it’s a feature, not a bug. In our wholly corrupted political environment in which the Deep State rules in perpetuity, the guarantees expire every election cycle.

Calm down, everything you have said about Venezuela on this threat has shown your ignorance of the subject.

I know shite too. Mainly that the lofty promises of these repeated neocon regime change operations rarely pan out and indeed have a tendency to spectacularly backfire. Yet you do you!

Did I claim otherwise? It’s a non sequitur.

If anything, the longer the history of nationalization, the worse the risk profile looks. Indeed, given Venezuela’s history of expropriation and political volatility — regardless of whether the first nationalization occurred in the 1970s or 2000s — Exxon’s apparent reluctance is wholly rational.
