The explosion occurred in a 243-Diesel hydrotreater unit capable of producing about 47,000 bpd of the universal commercial transport fuel.

Unless light cycle oil from the cat cracker is part of the feed then this likely not quite 10,000,000 cubic feet per day makeup hydrogen. If light cycle oil is in the feed, then way more. These operate around at around 700 to 800 psig There will be a makeup compressor to kick up to the required pressure and a recycle compressor for hydrogen not consumed into combining with sulfur to form H2S as easier to separate from the hydrogen that is being recycle.

A straw broom was used several years ago. on a recip compressor I sold. It was converted from natural gas and already had distance pieces but needed nitrogen purge. API standards for hydrogen compression is never meet or exceed 300 Deg F during any stage.

search helicopters using thermal imaging for locating live people/animals only need a 5.6 degree Fahrenheit offset to work. What the measured sensitivity of your straw broom?
