Backer, a veteran campaign counsel, said it is common practice for high-profile individuals and companies to take part in these kinds of payment arrangements. He said Trump is a brand, he has carried out similar payments for years and these so-called "hush-buys" will likely continue.
"Brand protection is not a campaign contribution," he told the magazine.
"The notion that every penny a candidate personally or professionally spends is somehow reportable to the FEC is utter nonsense," he continued.

Fact: He's an unnamed unindicted co-conspirator in a possible campaign finance violation thats sum total is less than 2/3 Obama's fine for a campaign finance violation that was 10 times larger than Trump's.
Progressives: Obama was the greatest president. It was Hillary's turn. Trump and every member of his family should go to jail!
Facts:
Obama had a larger campaign finance violation.
Hillary had more direct foreign money and ties than Trump.
Trump is married to an immigrant. He has a kid with her.
They are all against jailing immigrants and children and separating families.
They cannot put Trump in jail because it hurts immigrants and their children.
