Do you think it might be because you don’t want to deal with the idea that you’ve wasted years of your life believing the programming and building a personal identity that matches this programming?

There’s nothing that isn’t clear in the OP.
If you don’t get what is being said it’s an obvious limitation within yourself.
More likely, it’s a firewall built into your programming to prevent any existential suffering as you block out the idea that your political investment wasn’t a total waste of your life.

When you’re responding to deeply programmed people who’s bodies can’t handle the possibility that politics are a complete waste of time and in fact feeds the network they’re blind to it’s unlikely you’ll be seeing substantial replies from me. It takes two for quality conversation.
