True. We once envisioned great things and set out to do them. We lack the pioneer spirit, we lack the will to risk everything to accomplish a dream. Everyone is risk averse these days and opt for security via a desk job and suburban home. Nobody wants freedom, nobody wants to work and tame an unforgiving land, or to build something nobody has built before, or to conquer something or complete a task that’s thought impossible or solve an unsolvable problem. Just collect a paycheck at a 8-5 job and head home, pick up some poison for dinner from one of dozens of identical chain restaurants and plant yourself in front of a screen until bedtime.

Regulations are why companies outsourced for cheaper.
When it’s cheaper to acquire raw materials here, ship them to China, manufacture widgets in China with those materials then ship the product back rather than just acquire raw materials here and ship by rail to a nearby city with a widget factory to manufacture products here then it’s a problem of regulations and government making it expensive. We could compete with China and others if we deregulate and lower tax burdens
