A personal favorite.

When he was nailed for having that South Korean Tung Sun Park's payoff money in a shoe box in his closet.

EWE quote for the ages:

"It's not illegal to take the money; it's illegal to offer it."

The ultimate clinical study in self-serving reasoning by a venal, amoral, greedy roué/voluptuary.

Then he doubled down on his already lax ethics by blaming his wife Elaine for taking the money.

He got away with so much before he was finally nailed.

In every way, Louisiana's version of "the Artful Dodger."

quote:

Then there was a picture of EWE acting like he was Jesus on the cross or something.

Yes there was a picture. I think the old klansman himself brought it to light during the campaign.

Poor Clyle Vidrine. I remember his interview on 60 Minutes. I knew then Clyde was living on borrowed time.

Ultimately he was shot by a jilted husband. A witness said he saw Clyde run by him, huffing and puffing, trying to get away from said husband. Yikes! Bet that shotgun must've made a big hole in Clyde's torso. Hummm? Does anybody know if the husband is still in prison? Did he even go to jail?

See Clyde plead for mercy. See Clyde here, see Clyde there, and a piece here.

Then a stonefaced EWE brushed off questions about Clyde's unfortunate demise. If my memory serves me right, Fast Eddie went on to another term as governor.

IMHO that whole Vidrine-Edwards fiasco enshrined Louisiana in the Museum of Cesspoolism. It went downhill from there.
