Today, CMS notified Governor Walz and the state of Minnesota that we are deferring an additional $91 million in federal Medicaid funding.

This follows a pattern we can’t ignore. From the “Learing Center” scandal to the recent DOJ action involving childcare centers, Minnesota’s Medicaid program has shown serious vulnerabilities to fraud. These are not isolated breakdowns—they point to systemic issues that must be addressed.

Here’s the reality: the federal government funds roughly half of Medicaid. That gives CMS both the authority and the responsibility to ensure those dollars are spent legally and appropriately. When they’re not, we act.

Earlier this year, after auditing Q4 FY2025 billing, we deferred over $250 million.

Of the $91 million deferred:
• $76 million is tied to 14 service categories highly vulnerable to fraud
• $14 million involves program integrity concerns, including payments for ineligible individuals

We’re giving Governor Walz as much support as we can to turn this around. However, we cannot and will not pay bad bills so we’re asking for more information from Minnesota to verify these bills.
CMS will continue using every tool available to protect Medicaid’s integrity—because this program must serve the most vulnerable Americans, while honoring the trust of taxpayers.
More updates to come.

As always, I’m grateful to @VP’s leadership as CMS plays its part in the whole-of-government effort to root out fraud.

Feel sorry for the people who deserve it and need it. But, Minnesota voted in the politicians who did this. So they will have to look in a mirror.

Sounds like it's torch & pitchfork time for the good people of MN who aren't parasites on the system, then.

I am on the fence on this concept... We currently have NO idea what the actual tax paying legal citizens of our country voted for in any state. This is yet another reason why the Save America Act absolutely has to be passed and signed into law forever.

I wish they'd run that ad on TV in Minnesota. Maybe some people will wake up.

Precisely. We have anywhere from 20 to 100 MILLION illegal aliens here in the US. On the high end, that's 125 House seats apportioned to largely blue districts.

Our voting is fricked.

Our census is fricked.

Our tax dollars are fricked.

Our social services are fricked.

This. No doubt the left's talking point on this will be that mean old Trump is allowing millions of innocent, needy people to suffer. This will be reported heavily by MSM. It will be their directed talking point.

But NO, the reality is that this is the fault of Minnesota politicians. They allowed and probably promoted this to happen. Then they were caught and decided to do nothing about it. Now this is the result to FORCE them to do something about it. Let the locals come out with pitch forks and demand this be fixed by their local politicians. This is the way. I voted for this.

I'm calling my shot now - by the time the chapter is written on the whole MN fraud thing, there will be evidence to support the theory that one of these fictitious shell corporations will have Walz's wife, kids, dog walker, et al. named as officers with some manner of money trail leading back to him.

Everyone singing the blues about the cost of military action in Iran can go frick themselves in the ear until their tiny brains rattle unless they can prove they took the same position against the myriad blank checks written to Ukraine in the name of "democracy", only for their tracksuit dictator to cancel elections and dive into the money with his oligarch/mob boss buddies to launder 90% of the aid sent.

I don’t want to prove shite to you, so go frick yourself.

But yeah, since you asked, I didn’t support our support for Ukraine either. In fact, it pissed me off royally.

What are you talking about? Called me out for what? How am I hypocrite?

I’m an actual fiscal conservative. I don’t want us wasting money on Medicaid, but it’s almost irrelevant when you look at how much money we waste on foreign intervention.

He actually proved my point. Funding Ukraine was fricking retarded. Engaging unnecessary conflicts is also fricking retarded. We are wasting massive amounts of treasure.

We could save substantially more money by gutting the military industrial complex than we could buy a limiting fraud and waste in Medicare. I’m not saying we shouldn’t do those things. We absolutely should. If anything it’s hypocritical to celebrate saving a penny while spending a dollar.

There is zero ideological consistency on this board.

Somalia is safe again so time to go home. Maybe Trump can buy Spirit Airlines and use those planes to transport them back to Africa.
