Don’t buy a home that isn’t run by natural gas.

I have gas heat, fireplace, heat pump, and 10kw generator along with 81 acres of woods. Should be able to stay warm.

I got two fireplaces and an old Coleman stove. Biggest issue is well pump. Have a genny for that. Glad I don’t have to deal with that shite here in Georgia. Did have no power for 5 days a few years back and that sucked.

I heeard a ridiculous stat last week.
The natural gas in the Penn/West Virginia area alone has enough to power the entire world at its current consumption rate for 300 years.

That can't be right, can it?

We use a combo of propane and a shite load of solar and storage at the wife’s place in the middle of nowhere. We run as much of the big stuff (range, heater, etc) on the propane and use the solar and storage for everything else. It’s grid connected but can go off grid pretty much indefinitely if needed.

We will build back better with solar and wind.

The reality is, natural gas is about as “green” a resource as you can get. There are few actually cleaner means to power things and appliances that use it take fewer parts and typically run much longer than their corresponding electric versions.

It’s sad how it’s been twisted otherwise by this ridiculous “carbon emissions” lie.

What I find sad is how these narratives have been hijacked and politicized. “Green” is stupid. Solar and wind are not stupid, they just need to be deployed in the correct circumstances. Nuclear is safe and efficient. Natural gas is clean but we just exposed some serious midstream liabilities.

It’s just energy but we let the talking heads politicize this. It’s irritating.

Depends on the size of the generator. Gotta have fuel obviously.

They can. It just depends on how big you want to go.

it’s a money issue. It’s a lot of money for something that only gets used every so often, needs maintenance, etc.

The only problem with a heat pump is when the temp goes below 32 degrees, the outside unit can freeze up. It happened with my sister-in-law's house. And we live in S. Louisiana. Read up on the emergency heat option if you haven't already.

I have gas heat and gas water heater plus a wood burning fireplace.

I have at least 12 grills and smokers of various designs including a couple propane grills.

I might get inconvenienced, but I'll survive.

NG piped into yer house is only good as long as the electric system that maintains the gas pressure in the lines.
