You silly bastards are the ones dividing the country. I love how the progressives always say, "we need to come together as a country" and in the same breath say "he's not my president" and actively support the suppression of free speech on college campuses if it doesn't follow the progressive mantra. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Not Trump supporters. Trump supporters aren't attacking strangers because they have differing political beliefs. Trump supporters aren't #resisting. That's 100% leftist ideology.

You need to be open to the idea that you're not immune to be deluded either.
Personally, I believe there are puppeteers manipulating both sides. They know how to push the right buttons to keep us at each other's throats while they consolidate wealth and power.
Far right and far left politics are not that far apart.

I have a real problem with this as well for the record.

This is the divisiveness I am talking about. "It's not us it's you!" This is the part of the film where the different groups start to distrust one another.
It's both. Having said that, the only speech that I would seek to suppress would be that of racists and Nazis. There is no place for that in this country.

I totally agree. I have been re-examining my own thoughts of late because of it. No one is immune to this problem, but the post-WW2 film I posted resonated with me and I thought it might do the same for some here.

Well for some reason the racists in this country love Trump.
The black racists love Trump? You just made a generalization that all racists are white.

Unless you're black yourself, how could you understand the position?
There are a lot of racists out there, and there are people who hold prejudices even without malice. They have to deal with it and we don't.
Obviously I don't think the people who are saying 'kill all white folks' have legitimate points, but I am capable of re-examining my own position relative to race relations.

It's the absolute truth. 1947. Racism was a big deal in democratic circles back then. Overt racism. Not the subtle hidden racism they have now. The one where they treat minorities like they're lesser humans and need protecting from all the horrors of the world.

Fair point. When I think racist, I usually think white person. Historically, white people have been the benefactors of racism. There are racists of all types.
But as I said below, I don't believe the folks saying 'kill all whites' should have a voice or be taken seriously either.

I think we have a lot more in common than we have differences.
Posted on 11/9/17 at 9:29 am to Rougarou13
Yes I am aware of that.
I don't think the Dems today think minorities are lesser humans. That might be your perspective of what Dems think, but I think that is incorrect. I think they simply want to educate people about prejudice that still exists and still has a tangible effect on people of color, to the point of eliminating people's prejudices.
Lofty goal, unlikely to happen totally, but a fight worth fighting.

By using identity politics which racially divide the country and perpetuate feelings of racial tension? That's an odd way to pursue such a noble cause.
Wanna know my take? Racism would die if not for the government. The civil rights battle was against the government. Businesses were desegregating themselves before Jim Crow laws were finally declared unconstitutional. Racists cannot survive in the real world. They require government to enact policies which further their agenda. So get government out of it. And get identity out of politics. It's trying to fix a nonexistent problem.

That's an excellent observation. Government (deep state) is the enemy?

Government should never be large enough to dictate the populations day to day lives. It is their job to protect our rights, and that is it.

Typical mindless tactic for not dealing with the actual point. I'm disappointed. I though you might be better than this.

these people find solace and support in Trump. Why would that be?
Why would Antifa gravitate toward Hillary? Why would a Bernie supporter try to murder a Republican congressmen?
Because in a country of 300+ million people and only a couple candidates to choose from, it is inevitable to have a select few piece of shite individuals side with every one of those candidates.
That doesn't mean everyone who supports that candidate are just as despicable as those people or that candidate shares the same beliefs. To say so is both a childish way of thinking and moronic.
Is it still 2016? Because before the election last year is the last time I've honestly seen someone spewing the "why do racists love Trump" narrative. What gives?
