Cali governor is a leftist fear mongerer... nothing more. His guarantee of 25 million catching the virus in his state est 400k dead is going to fall short by a mile.

Lo and behold though... nobody will remember him saying that crap when it's all said and done. It'll just be pats on the back of job well done..

You don’t understand the politics is all

Give incredibly high number by model then show how your policies averted a catastrophe. The public is going to give him high marks.

"but resisted disrupting life too much."

In the end, the politicians and decision makers who took this road are going to end up as the subject of a lot of finger pointing. They turned their back on thousands of years of human history showing that quarantines were the last best line of defense humanity had against contagion. They ignored what China had to do to even begin to try and control this.

What's going to be really interesting is if the bogus numbers out of China are hiding the truth about how dangerous this virus is.

Population Density

NYC = 27,000 p/mi2
Los Angeles = 7,444 p/mi2.
This, plus 3 international airports within 30 minutes of Manhattan. Tons of travel to and from China (even after travel "ban") plus a ton of travel to Europe including Italy. Italy seemed to be responsible for most of the early spread.

Tin foil incoming!!!

Perhaps the west coast with it's proximity and numbers of Chinese already had the virus before we knew what it was and no one panicked and overan the hospitals....

They stayed in and figured it was the flu, etc...

We were not testing several months ago.

I'd be curious if they started antibody testing how the numbers would look there

Cali is doing work.

You can say it all because of population density (and it kinda is) but San Fran/Oakland is pretty dense and has the BART (public transportation) too.

NYC obviously has more density but California does have 6 cites in the top 25 in population density

Not a slam dunk...plus they close to 9 million visitors from
China last year.

The virus have already ran through California has data supporting that theory from the CDC....they had a spike in cases that came back negative for the regular flu. Same thing with Texas.

The virus has been here a lot longer than people realize. It's just hitting NYC now instead of back in Nov/Dec.

Upstate seems to be doing fine, is it not?

This is 100% density related.
