ABC California

I haven't seen this (and SIAP).

I haven't seen that they were wanting to divide the state into 3 states (Northern California, Southern California and California). First I didn't know a state could just do this. Seconldy, Wouldn't this be a huge win for the Republicans re: electoral college? Seems that a 3 way split would give conservatives a legitimate shot at pulling some of those 55 electoral votes.

I've met lots of farmers in that state who would love to not be politically roped in with the coasters. Too many idiots in big cities making policies that determine the way they have to farm.

Unfortunately, this will never happen. I'll bet any amount of money that the population in Cali will never get it on the ballot, and then Congress would never approve it.

Is there any chance this happens?

It would be breaking up a huge economy.

2% maybe. There are a lot of crazies on the coast who would not want to be politically tied to the conservative areas of the state as well. However, I think that when they start crunching numbers, they wouldn't go for it. Also, the DNC would fight it like hell.

As a resident in San Diego, I would support that map.
