If they were smart, given the actresses and perception of them, they would make snow white the antagonist and the queen the hero.

All Disney produced material has been costing this much the past few years. Disney movie making process got turned sideways the past decade. They directors started to get strict marching orders from corporate on what message they want to include in the movie and there isn't much room for any director to maneuver. Then comes the screenings and reshoots and screenings and reshoots and screenings and reshoots. At that point, any type of coherence from the beginning part that worked with audience is not working with the later reshoots. That happened with Indian Jones and it ended up being one of the most expensive films ever made.
It really is a complete shite show over there.

If an actor or actress stars in roles in movies and the movie cannot draw ticket sales their career becomes worthless.

Execs have to believe this to be the case for it to happen.
They insisted that shite sandwiches like the Ghostbusters reboot were ignored because of sexist audiences and not because it was seen as a shitty movie coasting on the Ghostbusters name. The success of Ghostbusters Afterlife has not changed their tune AFAIK.
