Who cares? Celebrate what you want.

Jesus Christ is our Passover. It’s the blood of the lamb that spares us. Why celebrate the shadow when we now have the full radiance?

Passover celebrates the faith of the Jews in God.
Easter celebrates the faith of Christians in God.
Easter celebrates the faith of Christians in God.

quote:what NT quotations are falsely attributed to jesus and how do you know? let me guess, you read ehrman or crossan or borg or some other such nonsense.
Jesus did say most of what it says he said in the Bible
quote:yes, it was. however, it is still the most historically accurate book from antiquity and it's not even close. moreover, you can't even prove that it's not the word of god.

I believe Jesus's followers more or less celebrate it every communion they take. No?
Yes. Precisely this, every Sunday, at least.
quote:
¶ When the Priest, standing before the Table, hath so ordered the Bread and Wine, that he may with the more readiness and decency break the Bread before the People, and take the Cup into his hands, he shall say the Prayer of Consecration, as followeth.
ALL glory be to thee, Almighty God, our heavenly Father, for that thou, of thy tender mercy, didst give thine only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the Cross for our redemption; who made there (by his one oblation of himself once offered) a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction, for the sins of the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us to continue, a perpetual memory of that his precious death and sacrifice, until his coming again:
For in the night in which he was betrayed,
(a) he took Bread; and when he had given thanks,
(b) he brake it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat,
(c) this is my Body, which is given for you; Do this in remembrance of me.
Likewise, after supper,
(d) he took the Cup; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of this; for
(e) this is my Blood of the New Testament, which is shed for you, and for many, for the remission of sins; Do this, as oft as ye shall drink it, in remembrance of me.
The Oblation
WHEREFORE O Lord and heavenly Father, according to the institution of thy dearly beloved Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, we, thy humble servants, do celebrate and make here before thy Divine Majesty, with these thy holy gifts, which we now offer unto thee, the memorial thy Son hath commanded us to make; having in remembrance his blessed passion and precious death, his mighty resurrection and glorious ascension; rendering unto thee most hearty thanks for the innumerable benefits procured unto us by the same.
The Invocation
AND we most humbly beseech thee, O merciful Father, to hear us; and, of thy almighty goodness, vouchsafe to bless and sanctify, with thy Word and Holy Spirit, these thy gifts and creatures of bread and wine; that we, receiving them according to thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ’s holy institution, in remembrance of his death and passion, may be partakers of his most blessed Body and Blood. AND we earnestly desire thy fatherly goodness, mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; most humbly beseeching thee to grant that, by the merits and death of thy Son Jesus Christ, and through faith in his blood, we, and all thy whole Church, may obtain remission of our sins, and all other benefits of his passion. And here we offer and present unto thee, O Lord, our selves, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy, and living sacrifice unto thee; humbly beseeching thee, that we, and all others who shall be partakers of this Holy Communion, may worthily receive the most precious Body and Blood of thy Son Jesus Christ, be filled with thy grace and heavenly benediction, and made one body with him, that he may dwell in us, and we in him. And although we are unworthy, through our manifold sins, to offer unto thee any sacrifice; yet we beseech thee to accept this our bounden duty and service; not weighing our merits, but pardoning our offences, through Jesus Christ our Lord; by whom, and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen.

Common misunderstanding that doesn’t account for the feasts of Passover and the special sabbaths during that week.
Posted on 4/21/19 at 8:10 pm to baybeefeetz
Jesus was not a Christian, he was a Jew. Christians, from the world's perspective, are a very large and diverse group of people that put Jesus in their theology.

Yes, that's when a normal Sabbath starts; however Passover is not a one day holiday.
It's a week long (and now sometimes 8 day) event of which the Seder meal but one. The three synoptic gospels all say that Jesus and his Disciples had gathered for preparation day. Which is when all risen bread and anything with yeast is purged from the house. It's meticulously removed from their homes. Today they'll sell their sour dough to later re-buy it back. It's to the point that Jew's make and bake the bread of haste in less than 18 minutes, because they believe that's the length it takes for yeast to begin it's action on dough. This is not the Seder or what we commonly think of as the passover meal. That day is still to come link.
Matthew, Mark, and Luke (the synoptic books) go on to say later (at night) he was nabbed in the garden of Gethsemane and the story proceeds to crucifixion. Which I mention because a lot still had to happen that would not have been capable (allowed) on a Sabbath day. The Jews neither Pharisees or Sanhedrin would have allowed any trial or any of the events leading up his death to have happened on a Sabbath.
As to the 3 days.... (since I'm here)
We know He died on the day before a Sabbath (had to according to the Gospels) but this doesn't have to mean it was on a Friday. Many believe that the next day was the Seder Sabbath, which is a special by date Sabbath, and not a normal seventh day Sabbath (there are others). And then reason the following day was a normal garden variety (sic) Sabbath which always on a Saturday... then come Sunday morning he was not to be found.
This is why the Disciple waited until Saturday night to gather... they had been observing (as all observant Jews do) their uber-strict Sabbath laws.. for two days and could hardly wait for sunset to gather, talk, and collect their wit's of what had just happened. Little did they know what was to come (or was going on).
Yep - TLDR
(...etc: way bad spell'n - always re-read and never post something this long - that was written in 5 minutes)
