This was on full display in the ENC after Helene. Local reporters were all over the daily stories but it was utterly and completely razed at the national news level.
I followed that shite closely and will never forget the negligence and disrespect intentionally handed to the good people of Appalachia. What they endured was unforgiveable.
Make no mistake, 95% of the help given to those storm victims was given by private citizen entities who coordinated to make the impossible happen while the government at every level only tried to impede their valiant efforts. Elon Musk donated literally thousands of StarLink units so that storm victims could communicate their needs to the outside world. Some of those folks were completely cut off for weeks. That whole situation proved to me that average Americans working together are for more powerful and effective than FEMA. The government damn sure doesn't want us to know that, and would rather we completely forget it ever happened.
I tried to join a caravan to head there myself and lend a direct hand but the volunteers were already completely filled up on travel space, GOD bless them. So I donated a few hundred dollars that mostly ended up buying food and medicine for pets, because that's what they needed at the time. I didn't donate to government fundraisers because I didn't trust them, but my money went to two groups out of Tennesse who were remarkably transparent with the receipts for literally every dollar spent.
That period in time angered me greatly but also did a lot to restore my faith in American citizens. Unfortunately, the reactions to Trump being shot, Kirk being assassinated and now the "no kings" bullshite have me feeling pretty dejected again.
TL/DR: frick FEMA. American citizens are superior in every way.

They did the same thing with contracts and engineering services. Only DEI companies have been able to hold on to the FEMA contracts.

How big of a pile of shite do you have to be to refuse to help someone in need simply because of that person's political views?
I'd bet that they bragged about it to their co-workers and friends.

Imagine the outage if this happened the way Democrats imagine the world is. Imagine white FEMA agents selectively refusing aid to blacks based solely on skin color. The left would be apoplectic, demanding heads.
The reality is this situation isn't much different than that example.
