Designated Survivor series on Netflix has interesting parallels to current U.S. politics

Canceled my Netflix account and have been watching some things before it cuts off. I started watching Designated Survivor a few days ago and have been binge watching it before my membership ends. It came out in 2016 and ran for three seasons. The series stars Kiefer Sutherland and feels like The West Wing meets 24.
There are some interesting aspects to the plot involving subversion and traitorous actions of various politicians, intel agency operatives, as well as Pentagon and D.C. bureaucrats. Aside from false flag terrorist attacks they intially blame on Islamic extremists, it has Deep State espionage and the sabotaging of Presidents and elected officials they cannot control, it has disease outbreaks and chemical warfare, assassination attempts...
Near the end of season one, when the attempted assassination of the President occurs, was especially interesting to watch. The way they quickly took the assassin (a CIA operative) out, rather than try to catch him alive. Characters made comments that he was a "patsy" and, the corrupt Vice -President who was in on the Deep State's assassination attempt to install him as President, "had him killed before he could talk."
Aside from a couple issues raised and dialogue involving gun control and racism, it has been a fun and interesting watch in late 2024.

That was a good series.
Jericho is another one that was cut short that has an interesting “Deep State is corrupt” angle.

Started off really good but they blew their wad in the first season. The rest wasn’t that great to me.

The opening scene to episode one gives me a chub. A man can dream, right?
