The democrats had lots of votes in Congress and they had all of the media explaining every day why Reagan was the worst President ever. No Fox News in those days. 100% commie media.

At best, he had a surprise GOP majority in Senate after some upsets in 1980 but the House remained Democrats. He lost the Senate in 86 I think.
