We Americans are such idiots when talking about Russia. We have this belief about what Russians might do. Whereas Europeans, especially those from Prague and eastward have a real memory of what they have done.
I don't think you can make a deal with Putin over Ukraine at this point, I don't think we have been able to since 2014. He wants what he wants in the Donbas....and he'd like more of it especially in Central Ukraine. But if he wants Central Ukraine he has to take all of Ukraine.

Considering that Biden greenlit a massive escalation of the conflict, it probably makes sense that Trump be flexible.
At a minimum, his statement put both sides on notice to have their shite in place by 1/20/25 because this will be ending and soon.
